My artistic credo is flying
Nothing else is good for me
One wing is colour
The other is light

Aron Bukh was born in 1923 in Ukraine. In 1937 moved to Moscow with the family and from '41 to '44 he studied at the Scool for Artistic Education. After two years spent working in a factory (1944 e 1945) he followed the classes of painting workshop directed by Iuon. Only in 1959 is accepted as a member by the Artists Union and exhibits in Soviet Union. He always worked surrounded with indifference and doubts by the official critic. Although he were already recognised as one of the more interesting painter by the artistic soviet circles his first big exhibition was organised only in 1985. That big event showed him in all his creative immensity establishing and recognising him as one of the great artists in Soviet Union. He attended to personal exhibitions in Germany, United States, France, United Kingdom, Spain, India. His art works are in museums and galleries in Russia and in many private collections abroad.

Aron Bukh has an oddly self-deprecating view of his profession. "Art is a game compared to real life" he says. But the statement is simply a reflection of the artist's zest for life, and his sharp, emotional perception of the world comes through in his art. Bukh, 77, whose work is part of the collection of Russia's major museums, takes immense joy in living. His passion for life has made him an ageless romantic, and all his emotions are reflected in his canvases. Even if you never met Bukh, you can learn much about him by looking at his paintings. When glanced at briefly, Bukh's works seem similar to one another, but attentive viewing reveals a variety of images, which reflect the many sides of the artist. The brush strokes, which seem to lack energy, the soothing colour scheme that lacks sharp contrasts create a feeling of pacification. The picture has the beauty of autumn leaves that have started to fall but still retain their flaming colours. His powerful and textured brush strokes in joyful tones of crimson, gold and bright green with a sprinkling of blue, is an unbridled celebration of life.
